Exhibition of regional wood turning artists on display upstairs in Mabel Hansen Gallery.

Driftwood sculptures

In conjunction with Oregon State Parks, Coos County Parks, Oregon Institute of Marine Biology & the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve. Create your own wood sculptures out at the beach using pieces of driftwood (found objects) and CAM will display them in the upstairs Uno E. Richter Atrium.

Polaroid images by the artistic team of Ric Morrisonn and Joan Emm on display in the Perkins Room Gallery. South coast visual and recording artist Morrisonn and his wife start with a polaroid image of both common and unique subjects. Through manipulation of the emulsion during the development stage, they create an impressionistic image.

This exhibition was underwritten in part by a grant from the Coos County Cultural Coalition Supporters of the arts, culture and heritage in Coos County.

12th Annual Maritime Art Exhibit
July 22, 2005 -
September 24, 2005

A juried exhibition of 60 works by 80 Maritime artists from around the country is on display in the Maggie Karl. Featured Artist Austin Dwyer selected Mistral II, a pastel by Diana Smith of Pacheco, CA as the Best of Show. A Perilous Sea, an oil by Leander R. MacCormick Goodhart of Portland, OR received the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay's Commissioners Award. Taylor Pond Passage, an oil by James Magner of South Glastonbury, CT, received the Coos Art Museum's Directors Award. Voting took place over the Opening Weekend events by museum attendees and Dark Harbor, an oil by Stephen Ruell of Canaan, ME received the People's Choice Award.

Maritime in Oils, by Austin Dwyer

Select works by Puget Sound maritime painter and the 12th Annual Maritime Art Exhibition's 'Featured Artist' are on display in the Perkins Room Gallery. Dwyer, a member of the American Society of Marine Artists and President of the Puget Sound Painters Group, taught a 3-day workshop on Plein Air painting at the Coos Art Museum. Dwyer, who hails from County Tipperary in Ireland and lives in Mukilteo, WA, lead the Plein Air/Wet Paint outings around the Coos Bay as part of his workshop. Pacific Scrolls

A mixed media collaboration that combines photography and acrylics in a manner similar to Oriental scrolls. These impressionistic works depicting the beauty of the Pacific Northwest coastlines are co-created by Chaim Bezalel and Yonnah Ben Levy, a husband and wife artistic team from Stanwood, Washington, on display in the Uno E. Richter Atrium Gallery.

Merrie Holbert - It's a Beautiful World.

A retrospective of a one of the South Coast's most distinguished watercolor artist. I consider myself a narrative realist. I do not try to analyze any subject, but record what I see and love in order to share it with others, Merrie Holbert, 2004. Holbert, who holds memberships in the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Women Artists of the West, American Society of Maritime Artists, and the National Watercolor Society presents over 95 of her favorite works of art.
