Uno E. Richter Atrium Gallery – Watercolors and pastels by Kim Wurster winner of last year’s Peoples Choice Award from the Coos Art Museum Biennial. Her paintings depict skillfully rendered scenes from nature.

Maggie Karl Gallery and Perkins Gallery – This Annual juried competition features the works of painters from 13 western states. Co-sponsored by the Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation, prize winning works will be added to the collection of the college.

Reality Check: The Uneasy Still Lives of Gary Faigin

Mable Hansen Gallery – Paintings by the juror of the Expressions West 2008 exhibition. Seattle painter, Gary Faigin, is co-founder and Artistic Director of the Gage Academy of Art as well as art critic for KUOW radio in Seattle. He has been exhibiting in Seattle since 1992. His work was featured in a major retrospective at the Frye Art Museum in 2001. Reality Check will inaugurate the museum’s newly remodeled Mable Hansen Gallery.

Uno E. Richter Atrium Gallery – Few people know that runner Steve Prefontaine was also an amateur photographer. This very special exhibition of his black and white nature photography is timed to highlight the Olympic Trials in Eugene and is brought to us courtesy of the Prefontaine family.

Featured Maritime Artist - Ned Mueller

Perkins Gallery – Ned Mueller of Renton, Washington is one of the jurors for the Annual Maritime Art Exhibition and our featured maritime artist. He is known internationally as a master of Plein Air painting and for his popular workshops.

Low Tide: Undetermined Species – The sculptural environments of Angela Pozzi

Uno E. Richter Atrium Gallery – Angela Pozzi produces mixed-media sculpture fantasy forms inspired by sea anemones, urchins, corals and other aquatic life. The works are bright, colorful, imaginative and great fun.

This museum wide event gives artists living in Oregon the opportunity to exhibit without an extensive jurying process. Galleries will be covered from floor-to-ceiling with participants’ works, professional and amateur hung side-by-side.

First floor of the museum – An international competition of contemporary quilts this exhibition premiered at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England and was juried by Rudolf Smend of Cologne, Germany.

Uno E. Richter Atrium Gallery – A traveling exhibition of 50 small format art quilts. The works from five countries are distinguished by diversity and free exploration with techniques and materials; together they comprise a thoughtful, entertaining and diverse exhibition.

Second floor of the Art Museum – A juried art competition of high school students from Southern Oregon. Sponsored by Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation and Coos Art Museum. The exhibition includes drawings, paintings, etchings, photography, ceramics and mixed media. SOCC Foundation provides $6,000 in cash purchase awards, and over $20,000 in tuition waivers.
