Featured Maritime Artist – Don McMichael of North Bend, Oregon
Known for his depictions of whales and other marine mammals Don has exhibited throughout the U.S. and abroad. He has received awards from notable exhibitions such as the Audubon Society and Mystic Seaport international shows. He is an artist member of the American Society of Marine Artists and of the U. S. Coast Guard Artists’ Group.

Frames Around Oregon Agriculture
The College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU) has selected 20 works from the Art About Agriculture permanent collection to celebrate Oregon agriculture. The College’s Art About Agriculture program began in 1983 to promote artists and to foster their collaboration with the College in telling the story of agriculture through visual art. Today, the Art About Agriculture permanent collection includes 176 artists.

Inspirations of the Coast
Since its beginnings in 1966, the Coos Art Museum’s Permanent Collection has grown to over 545 works. Many of these are by Coastal artists who were inspired by the unique landscape of the Pacific Coast.

Wine Walk
Friday August 5, 2011 5 to 7PM – Wine Walk starts at CAM, costs $10 to participate, and proceeds benefit the Museum. The Museum will open that evening with no admission. This event will include an informal reception for the OSU and CAM exhibitions. The public is invited to attend in addition to Wine Walk participants.
Clare Wehrle Community Gallery
In April Coos Art Museum was bequeathed 63 framed photographs by Coos Bay photographer Carol Knapp. These photographs are to be sold to benefit the Museum. A selection depicting maritime themes will be on view.
